Market Observation for Plast Eurasia Istanbul 2023

In the backdrop of a challenging year for Turkey, marked by global economic downturn, escalating inflation, and rising unemployment, the anticipation surrounding this event was uncertain.

Despite the uncertainties, the exhibition exceeded previous records, boasting over 1400 exhibitors, a substantial increase from less than 900 in 2019. Notably, the surge was led by a significant rise in Chinese exhibitors, a trend seen consistently in post-pandemic international expos. This growth is a momentous occasion for Turkey, especially in its centennial year, and marks a historic moment for the 32nd edition of Plast Eurasia.

With exhibitors from 43 countries, including Germany, Denmark, Iran, Russia, Italy, Poland, China, Spain, Taiwan, and India, the exhibition covered an extensive 120,000 square meters, utilizing all 14 halls, with two additional halls this year. Anticipating over 65,000 visitors from the plastic and rubber industries, the organizers declared Plast Eurasia Istanbul as the second-largest annual exhibition in the Eurasian region, following China.

The on-site atmosphere, coupled with the remarkable buying interest, surpassed expectations, providing a glimpse of recovery and positive momentum. Despite geopolitical challenges, industry players from around the world expressed a vibrant atmosphere and robust market activity at Plast Eurasia.

Noteworthy representatives from companies like FCS and POLYSTAR acknowledged the heightened trade activities and potential in the Turkish market, surpassing other regions. Buyers from Iran, Algeria, Ukraine, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, among others, approached PRM (Plastics and Rubber Machinery) to explore machinery options, indicating a readiness for recovery amid ongoing conflicts.

Taiwanese manufacturers, long established in the Turkish market, played a pivotal role in the exhibition. Despite challenges and competition, Taiwan's presence was strong, with around 20 companies participating in the official Taiwan pavilion. Many more Taiwanese firms, though not part of the official delegation, showcased their machines independently, resulting in robust sales and on-site orders.

PRM received encouraging news, with buyers expressing admiration for Taiwanese machinery's reliability and excellent service. Even amidst fierce competition from Chinese and Turkish manufacturers, Taiwan's machinery found favor among many buyers.

In conclusion, Plast Eurasia Istanbul 2023 served as a beacon of hope, showcasing resilience and adaptability in the face of global challenges. The event not only marked a historic milestone for Turkey but also demonstrated the industry's readiness for recovery and growth on an international scale.
