iran food + bev tec 2017: German Pavilion with 44 exhibitors on 1,182 m² - German manufacturers increase their food + bev tec exports to Iran by 93.5% according to VDMA
In Iran, fairtrade has been working significantly longer than in Nigeria. Since 1994, fairtrade, together with their Iranian partner Palar Samaneh, has been organisng iran agrofood, which is divided into the four dedicated trade shows iran agro, iran food + hospitality, iran food ingredients and iran food + bev tec and last year, with 1,443 exhibitors from 49 countries, occupied the entire Tehran International Fairgrounds. 
The 24th edition will now take place on 23 to 26 May, and for the first time after the sanctions have been lifted, an official German Pavilion will again be presented by BMWi and AUMA and supported by VDMA. As in the previous year, the German Ambassador will invite the exhibitors and their Iranian business partners for a cocktail reception to the German Embassy Tehran on the evening of the first day of the event.
"44 German exhibitors will be exhibiting their technologies tailored to the needs of the Iranian market at the German Pavilion at iran food + bev tec on a 1,182 sqm net exhibition area," says Paul März, exhibition director at fairtrade. "In addition, 15 German exhibitors on 606 sqm are exhibiting at iran food + bev tec and iran food ingredients outside the German Pavilion. This impressive German presence reflects the extremely robust Iranian growth market. After all, German manufacturers of food and packaging machines were able to increase their exports to Iran by 93.5% to 83.1 million euros in the first eleven months of 2016, according to VDMA.”
Similar to Germany, Italy traditionally massively presents itself at iran food + bev tec, last year with even more than one hundred exhibitors. Other official country pavilions come from Austria, China, France, India, the Netherlands, Poland and Turkey. In 2016, 633 exhibitors from 37 countries participated in iran food + bev tec, including 96 exhibitors from 11 countries of the Special Showcase iran food ingredients. These figures are expected to increase significantly this year.
Successful first agrofood plastpack Ethiopia
fairtrade's first agrofood plastpack Ethiopia on 3 to 5 February 2017 at the Millennium Hall in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa was extremely successful. 2,615 visitors from 33 countries, 48 accredited journalists and a media hype around the 60 exhibitors from 14 countries led to very good results during the final exhibitor survey. All exhibitors would recommend the trade fair, 93% of the exhibitors were satisfied or very satisfied with the number of visitors, 91% with the trade fair in total, 89% with the quality of the business contacts and 84% with the business outlook after the fair. 
agrofood plastpack Ethiopia was officially opened on 3 February by Ethiopian Minister of Industry, Dr. Mebratu Meles, as well as by the Economic Counsellors of the Dutch, French and German Embassies, the GIZ's Director-General and the Managers Market Development Africa of the German Food Processing & Packaging Machinery Association VDMA and the French agrofood association adepta. The next agrofood plastpack Ethiopia will take place in November 2018.
