(Heidelberg/Algiers) The German-Algerian Chamber of Industry and Commerce - AHK Algeria and the German trade show organizer fairtrade intensify their cooperation. The two partners just signed a contract relating to the trade shows "plast & printpack alger 2014" and "electro, automation & energy 2014". The collaboration focuses on offering opportunities to German and Algerian exhibitors and sponsors. Cooperation is also targeted for conferences accompanying the events as well as the public relations ahead. Exclusivity was agreed: AHK Algeria will accompany no further exhibitions in the industries concerned during the term of the contract.

The German-Algerian Chamber of Industry and Commerce - AHK Algeria and the German trade show organizer fairtrade intensify their cooperation. This has just been agreed between the managing directors Dr. Christoph J. Partsch and Martin März.

The agreement covers the 3rd International trade fair for the plastics industry "plast alger 2014", the 4th International trade fair for the printing and packaging industry, "printpack alger 2014", both taking place concurrently on 6-8 April 2014 at the Palais des Expositions - Safex in Algiers. The contract also covers the 8th International Trade Fair for Renewable and Conventional Energy, Energy Efficiency, Electrical Engineering and Automation "electro, automation & energy 2014" from 18th to 20th May 2014.

“The German-Algerian team of fairtrade already organizes professional trade fairs in Algeria since 2001
and has long been perceived as a synonym for German trade fair quality here”, says the managing director of the AHK Algeria, Dr. Christoph J. Partsch. "We are very pleased to further strengthen cooperation with fairtrade and to support the fairs with our expertise in Algeria."

The collaboration focuses on offering opportunities to German and Algerian exhibitors and sponsors. Cooperation is also targeted for conferences accompanying the fair as well as the public relations ahead of the events. Exclusivity was agreed: AHK Algeria will accompany no further exhibitions in the industries concerned during the term of the contract.

Fairtrade's managing director Martin März: "The AHK Algeria regularly leads Algerian delegations to the "K", "drupa", "Interpack" and "Intersolar", the cornerstone of an extensive network in the sectors concerned. We expect further synergies to the benefit of our exhibitors and trade visitors from the expertise of the AHK in its areas of competence Industry & Automotive and Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency.

The exhibitions will take place against the backdrop of fastgrowing Algerian imports. Imports of energy and electrical engineering technology for instance have grown from 2.678 billion euros in 2010 to 3.219 billion euros in 2012.

The Algerian plastics industry is one of the fastest growing and most important sectors in the country. In addition, Algeria has
now become the fourth-most important importer of plastic machines on the African continent, just behind South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria. This increase reflects the enormous potential of one of the world's major oil and gas producers.

According to VDMA - The German Engineering Association the Algerian imports of plastics machinery have increased from 60.3 million U.S. dollars in 2010 to 99.8 million U.S. dollars in 2012, an increase of 65.5 percent. Imports of packaging machinery climbed from 139.2 million U.S. dollars in 2011 to 189.6 million U.S. dollars in 2012, an increase of 36 percent. Imports of packaging and printing technology Algeria is now reaching number three in Africa followed by Nigeria, and just behind South Africa and Egypt.
