In Germany, Evonik Industries AG is helping to produce rumble strips made out of cold plastics to improve road safety.
The company states that for more than 50 years, road and area markings based on Degaroute, a reactive resin produced by Evonik, has been helping to improve road safety by reducing the risk of accidents. The material has recently been employed as rumble strips to prevent speeding in the K9107 highway between Wolfsgrün and Hundshübel in Germany. "The ideal solution was to install transverse markings with Degaroute based cold plastic," said Jochen Henkels, business director of road marking & construction at Evonik. Two different transverse markings were applied, one bright yellow strip and three narrow white strips, which draw the drivers attention and makes them slow down. |
Evonik reported sales of around 12.7 billion euros ($16.99 billion) in 2013 and currently employs 33,500.
